About Me

I write books for immerging readers who have autism. Typical books that are found in elementary classrooms are designed for typically developing children, and can be frustrating for some on the spectrum. In my seven years as an Aide assisting students with their unique academic and behavioral needs, I discovered that finding books for my students that fit their interests and reading levels was nearly impossible. I am seeking a publisher at this time.

My ability to address this complex problem is enhanced by multiple perspectives: parent, educator and researcher. Then, my strength as a writer is key to producing engaging text that is accessible to students with learning differences. The physical attributes, depth of language, and subject matter impact whether a student will be comfortable with a book. It is key to build on the language that a student has acquired from their life when learning to read, because unrelatable text can be highly frustrating and impede comprehension.

The main character of the series is Alex the Storyteller. I am seeking an agent or publisher at this time.
